A federal judge ordered the names of 177 associates of the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein to be made public in 2024 with the unsealing of court documents.
The judge on Monday ordered the names to be unsealed in connection to a defamation case brought by Prince Andrew accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex crimes.
Hundreds of files related to the associates are set to be released on Jan. 1, but will likely be made public the following day as Jan. 1 is a holiday.
The 51-page court order first published by The Daily Mail lists 187 Epstein associates and whether their information would be unsealed and why.
The names and identifying information of 10 “J. Does” listed will remain sealed because they are alleged minor sexual abuse victims who have not publicly spoken about their experiences. In those cases, “the public interest does not outweigh the privacy interests of the alleged minor victim,” the court said.
Roberts Giuffre sued Maxwell in 2015 for defamation, and while the case has since been settled, media outlets filed to have the documents published.
